This course is for those who find it hard to say "No" and could improve their self esteem and confidence by learning to be more assertive, and reduce the stress caused by non-assertive behaviour.
 
This course teaches participants how to be assertive without being rude or arrogant.  The theory of assertiveness is underlined by a series of excerises and role plays in wich people learn the techiniques required to be assertive.  Perticipants are encouraged to share specific situations they find difficult and simulate acceptable solutions through role play.  By the end of the workshop you will have covered the following topics:
  • What assertiveness is and skills that can be used together to provide an advantage
  • Understanding the difference between assertivenss, passive, manipulative and aggressive behaviour; appreciate the advantages of assertiveness
  • The important role of body language in assertive communication
  • The importance of "active listening"
