This training is for anyone who would like to better understand basic statistical information for designing and analysing clinical trials.
We will also be joined by a special guest speaker from MHRA talking on the Common Statistical Mistakes in submissions.
Topics expected to be covered include: Motivation, need for statistics; Populations and Samples; Uncertainty and Variability; Distributions; Types of Data; Summarising Data (mean, median, standard deviation, standard errors, proportions,) Hypothesis Testing; Type 1 and Type 2 error; P values; Confidence intervals; Superiority, Non-Inferiority; Sample Size Determination (Power, Delta); Avoiding Bias – Randomisation and Blinding; Populations – Safety, ITT, PP; Basic Statistical Methods: T-test, chi-square test ;Covariates and Subgroups; Comparing Treatments (differences in means, odds ratios, relative risk, absolute risk difference etc); More sophisticated statistical methods (ANCOVA, logistic regression, )
