Allergic to Allergies

1 in 4 people at this time of the year, seek help for allergies to pollen (grass etc) known as ‘hay fever’, but not many seek aid for allergies to dust mite, food, animals, household chemicals etc.

I find that the main reason for this is that most people believe or are told that there is no form of ‘treatment’ for such allergies…actually having said that many people still believe that there is no treatment for hay fever but to take medication to alleviate the symptoms. So, if your previous 'treatment' has not been successful or you have never thought about ‘treating’ (not relieving symptoms) your allergies…then please do read on (or print this out and read it later).

We have worked with people with food allergies who are no longer ‘allergic’ to those specific foods. In today’s fast paced lifestyle, it is very difficult to stay clear of a food for the rest of your life, it seems to appear somewhere, somehow and causing all sorts of reactions. For example, wheat is not only found in bread, but in pasta, biscuits, sausages, some gravy sauces, etc. I certainly have to say that I take my hat off to all those people who pursue a dairy and wheat free diet, but I also wonder, ‘do they know that they can be desensitised to such allergies?’

So you may be thinking, how is this possible? Well….. before we work with anyone with allergies, we carry out a full health history, which would include determining whether they have had a high ‘stress’ load in the past. This stress can be chemical, emotional or biological.

Having done this we then proceed to test for the allergies and once the allergies are determined, specific desensitising remedies are matched to the individual. The overall protocol may also include some nutritional, homeopathic and/or herbal support for any systems in the body that may need support, such as the thyroid.

May I add, we address the ‘whole’ person that has the allergy not the allergy that has the person…its not confusing, really. In other words we do not treat the ‘symptoms’ or the ‘conditions’. As I have said in many of my previous Monthly Boosts, two people who have the exact same allergies (condition), may have them due to totally different imbalances in the body. The protocol is followed for 4 weeks and the individual is re-tested at the second session and the protocol is reviewed and adjusted until the allergies have been cleared.

Let me give you a case study: I had been working with a 9 year old boy, Adam, who had allergies to dogs, cats and horses, as well as numerous foods. It was discovered that his father was a scientist (using various chemicals in the laboratory for the past 12 years) and his mother was a model before changing her career to being a full time mum. The mother, Melissa, also had eating issues, during her later years as a model she had bulimia (which had never been addressed).

You may be asking ‘what has the mother’s bulimia to do with Adam’s health?’, just stay with me….the fact that Adam had these various allergies was also due to the chemical stress on his body passed on from his father and the ‘sub-conscious’ emotional stress passed on from his mother. Adam has two other siblings one who has asthma and the other has ‘hay fever’, the picture got clearer.

Melissa was finding it difficult to send Adam off to school trips worrying whether he will be OK. Adam carried a concoction of medications with him daily…just in case he reacted to anything. Food wise, the kids would swap lunch at school as well as snacks and this led to many hospital visits as well as regular ‘desensitisation’ injections by the ‘specialists'. The desensitisation injections did not help with the allergies...as you may have gathered.

When Adam was brought in to see me, Melissa was exasperated. I went through the father’s as well as Melissa’s health history, to which Melissa was surprised. But as we started to work with Adam, Melissa also started the programme too. Sometimes it is difficult to work with a child without working with their main care giver, be it dad or mum. We worked primarily with Adam’s ‘fight or flight’ system as well as desensitising him to the various allergies to animals and specific foods over a period of 6 months. He is now completely free from all his allergies, apart from wasps (of course; which is a different kind of an allergic reaction) for which he carries adrenaline. There are no needles, to say the least, just liquid drops taken under the tongue daily along with a few nutritionals. The work was all non-invasive.

Melissa also saw the ‘change’ in her health mentally as well as physically for the better…now I am working with her husband primarily to boost his detoxification system in order to reduce the ‘toxic burden’ on his body, before they try for their next baby. Why would it be important to do this before the next baby is conceived?...ideally to prevent the health problems that the other offsprings had. Also Adam's brother is now clear of hay fever after completing the programme.

Welcome to Mums in Science

This site has been designed as a portal for busy mums who work or have worked in science.

Too many women leave science due to the constraints of motherhood. Some struggle, and work part time, at the expense of advancing their career. Others change their career to fit in with their children, whilst working within some area of science.

Our aims are :-

  • to create a community to provide mutual support,
  • to provide information to those who have the challenge of bringing up children and maintaining a career in science, whether full or part time, or outside mainstream science.

This site is updated regularly with new articles and occasional special offers. Everything is accessible on the site. However, if you would like to receive notices of new additions to the site you can subscribe to the site and receive e-mails as soon as a new article is posted to your selected categories or to all the site.

We welcome comments about MumsinScience, what you like, what you don't like, or how we can improve.

PLEASE LET US KNOW, just email comments@mumsinscience.net
