In association with the 2004 Comprehensive Spending Review, the ten year framework for science and innovation was published by the Treasury in late 2004. This announced an extra £1bn for UK science, initiatives to improve science delivery, science teaching and new policy perspectives on 'science and society' issues. The Government also set a new target of increasing UK R&D investment as a proportion of national income from its current level of 1.9 per cent to 2.5 per cent by 2014 over the next decade. more »
