This course teaches participants how to be assertive without being rude or arrogant. The theory of assertiveness is underlined by a series of exercises and role plays in which people learn the techniques required to be assertive. Participants are encouraged to share specific situations they find difficult and simulate acceptable solutions through role play. more »

Dr Robin Wait (Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, London, UK) chaired this highly informative Euroscicon (www.euroscicon.com) event held on Sept 29th 2006. Professor David O’Connor (Centre for Proteomic Research, Southampton, UK) described some new methods that are being developed to capture more of the proteome including the use of NanoMate technology, enhanced desorption/ ionisation on silicon (DIOS) MS, novel peptide/ protein capture surfaces and the Protein Expression System developed in collaboration with Waters. more »

Liverpool John Moores University in conjunction with ESF Objective 3 are offering FREE one day seminars/workshops for women across the UK. The workshops will cover issues of Gender Discrimination & Ageist Perceptions and are designed to raise awareness and aspirations of women from all backgrounds, in management or supervisory roles, HR, Trade unionists, employed or unemployed or in part time education, or community and voluntary groups. Some struggle, and work part time, at the expense of advancing their career. Others change their career to fit in with their children, whilst working within some area of science. Our aims are :-
