Key Issues

• Many employers in science, engineering and technology experience difficulties in recruiting suitable women employees. In this seminar ‘SET’ employers describe the practicalities of introducing Equal Pay and the part which this has played in attracting and retaining women.

 

To include:

Advice and guidance from Baroness Prosser and good practice employers about the practicalities of responding to the findings of the Women and Work Commission.

• Mechanisms for establishing fairer and more transparent pay systems.

• Setting targets for women to progress through the grading structures.

• Conducting a pay audit.

• Working in partnership with Trade Unions.

• Moral, legal and business arguments for introducing equal pay systems.

This seminar is intended for Diversity / HR officers, managers, decision makers and other organisations with an interest in attracting more women into SET occupations.

This site has been designed as a portal for busy mums who work or have worked in science.

Too many women leave science due to the constraints of motherhood. Some struggle, and work part time, at the expense of advancing their career. Others change their career to fit in with their children, whilst working within some area of science.

Our aims are :-

  • to create a community to provide mutual support,
  • to provide information to those who have the challenge of bringing up children and maintaining a career in science, whether full or part time, or outside mainstream science.

This site is updated regularly with new articles and occasional special offers. Everything is accessible on the site.
