The MentorSET Peer2peer group is a peer mentoring group for all women in Science, Engineering and Technology who are experiencing work related issues due to their ethnicity and gender.

'BME women in SET are not a homogenous group, but we are more likely to face multiple disadvantages and so need to network and support each other'.

The group is holding a Strength Deployment Inventory SDI workshop at the British Computing Society in Covent Garden, London on the 4th July. Still places available.

"The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) is a tool to help people understand more about their own motivations and behaviours. The workshop is fun and interactive. During the day, through self-analysis, exercises and discussion, participants learn more about their drives, their preferred behaviours, and behaviours they value in other people. SDI also helps people to explore how they react when things that are important to them are challenged, and what steps they can take to resolve conflict. It helps participants to build better relationships with those around them through increased awareness and appreciation of others." The workshop will be facilitated by Rachel Tobbell, Mentoring Strategy Manager, UK Resource Centre for Women in SET.

Membership is free to women who are members of one of MentorSET's affiliated groups. We are also interested in hearing from women who have overcome such problems at work and who can provide support to others in the group.
