At the Open University we are currently undertaking a research project to investigate women's experiences of using online networks to help with career progression, professional development or return to work in science, engineering and technology (SET) related careers.
We would like to start our study by undertaking email interviews with a number of individuals in order to understand issues such as: what formal networks women within SET belong to; how women network online informally; how mixed-gender and women-only networks are perceived; and what online tools (e.g. email distribution lists, discussion boards, chat, blogs) and environments are conducive to successful networking.
We are interested in both positive and negative experiences, what has beenand what hasn't. If you would be interested in discussing your experiences and views with us please send an email to H.M.Donelan@open.ac.uktelling us a little about yourself, including your current or most recent role and what online networks you use.
