A well qualified and experienced post-doctoral research associate is sought to work with Dr Simi Ali and Professor John A Kirby on examining the role of non-glycosaminoglycan-binding chemokine receptor agonists for anti-inflammatory therapy.  The project is for three years funded by the Wellcome Trust and is in collaboration with Dr I Crane at the University of Aberdeen.

The project is based on a recent study
(J Immunol, 2005; 175:1257-66) and will focus on the mechanism by which mutant chemokines can induce receptor desensitisation. It will involve a range of molecular biological/immunological techniques; in addition there will be an opportunity to do in vivo real time leukocyte trafficking.  The group has long standing interest in the investigation of the mechanisms resulting in graft inflammation.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in relevant discipline and will have experience in a range of immunological techniques.

To make informal enquiries about the post please contact Simi.Ali@ncl.ac.uk or J.A.Kirby@ncl.ac.uk.
