We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join a group studying cellular and molecular mechanisms of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease under a Fellowship awarded to Dr Jana Barlic.
The project will involve working under direction with in vivo models of atherogenesis; isolation, culturing and experimentation with primary murine and human leukocytes and smooth muscle cells, and maintenance and experimentation with various in vitro-grown cell lines. The candidate will also undertake general laboratory duties including ordering.
The candidate should hold a BSc or MSc or equivalent vocational qualification or have relevant laboratory based experience and should have practical experience with in vivo models, and in the collection, preparation, processing and/or storage of murine specimens. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques is desirable but training will be available.
The post-holder should have good interpersonal and organisational skills, the ability to organise work with limited supervision, prioritise his/her own work in response to deadlines, keep meticulous records and be willing to assist in contributing to scientific reports and publications. The post will be up to the 31st May 2012.
