Intellect Women in IT Forum: Perception of Equal Pay
Tuesday 4 September 2007

Registration 13:30, meeting 14:00 to 16:30 (followed by cheese and wine)
The Catalyst Group Room, Intellect Conference Suite, Russell Square House, 10-12 Russell Square, London WC1B 5EE

Guest Speakers:
Gillian Arnold, IBM and Chair of the Women in IT
Emma Bartlett, Speechly Bircham
Sheila Wild, EOC

This meeting of the Women in IT Forum meeting will focus on:
*the legal framework and challenges employees and employers are facing
*the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) view on equal pay
*and last but not least the comparison between last year's and this year's Intellect survey findings

As part of Intellect's Women in IT Forum programme, Intellect issued a survey looking at the issues around equal pay and the implications for the IT industry regarding equal pay audits or the lack of them. To take part in this survey please click on the following link www.surveymonkey.com The survey should take no more than five minutes. The survey looks at the 'perceptions' rather than the 'reality' of whether women are being paid fairly, whether the company appreciates them and how this impacts on their loyalty to the company they work for. The results will give them qualitative data and also an understanding on the perception of female employees within the IT industry.

The Intellect Conference Suite is wireless enabled so you can network, catch-up on emails and do your 'last minute' calls from Russell Square House, with full access to printing and refreshments before the meeting.

If you have any questions relating to this session please contact Carrie Hartnell E: carrie.hartnell@intellectuk.org

Welcome to Mums in Science

This site has been designed as a portal for busy mums who work or have worked in science.

Too many women leave science due to the constraints of motherhood. Some struggle, and work part time, at the expense of advancing their career. Others change their career to fit in with their children, whilst working within some area of science.

Our aims are :-

  • to create a community to provide mutual support,
  • to provide information to those who have the challenge of bringing up children and maintaining a career in science, whether full or part time, or outside mainstream science.

This site is updated regularly with new articles and occasional special offers. Everything is accessible on the site. However, if you would like to receive notices of new additions to the site you can subscribe to the site and receive e-mails as soon as a new article is posted to your selected categories or to all the site.

We welcome comments about MumsinScience, what you like, what you don't like, or how we can improve.

PLEASE LET US KNOW, just email comments@mumsinscience.net
