The UKRC went virtual in October when it launched its photo exhibition of the six women named '2009 Women of Outstanding Achievement in SET' at the island in Second Life run by Nature Magazine and MacMillan Publishing. The event also marked the opening for nominations for the 2010 UKRC Women of Outstanding Achievement Award (WoOA).
The event was packed out, with more than sixty avatars in attendance. Two 'WoOA' women spoke: Wendy Sadler, who runs Science Made Simple and has championed innovative forms of science communication, and Carolin Crawford, who works for the Institute of Astronomy and promotes astronomy to people of all ages.
