Matricellular proteins are non-stuctural proteins of the connective tissue that modulate cell functions through regulation of cell adhesion, growth factor activity, and signaling networks.  Matricellular proteins, including thrombospondins, tenascins, SPARC, and the CCN family,  have been implicated in a number of disease and developmental processes and represent novel therapeutic targets for major diseases.   Participation by women and underrepresented minorities is especially encouraged.
